We are proud to announce that Mahiette Tarrago, M.F.A., creator of Ahvian The Creative™, has been selected to present two educational sessions at the prestigious World Literacy Summit 2027 in Oxford, United Kingdom—bringing a powerful message to an international community of educators, researchers, and educational leaders: every child’s language, culture, and identity deserve to be celebrated as strengths in their learning journey.
Joining her as an invited co-presenter is Laura Quiñones, Principal of Anderson Elementary School in Conroe Independent School District, Texas, whose experience in bilingual education and school leadership brings a valuable real-world perspective to this shared mission.
Together, they will explore how storytelling, creativity, social-emotional learning, and meaningful family-school partnerships can transform bilingual education—empowering children to become confident readers, expressive communicators, and compassionate learners.

Laura Quiñones
CO-PRESENTER
Laura Quiñones is an educational leader with approximately 27 years of experience in teaching, instructional coaching, bilingual education, and school leadership. Since 2017, she has served as principal of Anderson Elementary School in Conroe Independent School District, Texas.
Originally from Mexico, Laura is passionate about bilingual literacy, cultural identity, and family-school partnerships. She encourages students to embrace their home languages and Hispanic heritage as strengths that enrich learning and build confidence.
Recognized as Teacher of the Year in 2010–2011, Laura holds advanced degrees in mathematics and certifications in educational leadership and bilingual education.
Through her leadership, she promotes inclusive learning environments where students feel valued, educators are supported, and families play an active role in student success.

With a master’s degree in Media Design and experience in higher education, she combines creative innovation with educational practices to develop meaningful learning experiences.
As founder of CreativeOnes Digital Art Academy and creator of Ahvian The Creative™, Mahiette develops bilingual children’s books, multisensory learning resources, and interactive educational experiences that connect English and Spanish language development with storytelling, emotional awareness, and creativity.
Her work supports educators, families, libraries, and specialists working with diverse learners, emphasizing the importance of home languages, cultural identity, and whole-child development.
