A Shared Mission
Laura’s commitment to bilingual education and cultural identity closely reflects the mission behind Ahvian The Creative™. Her connection to the project began through Anderson Elementary, where bilingual educational resources from the series were purchased approximately two years ago. This existing connection represents something meaningful: the opportunity to bring bilingual literacy, emotional learning, and hands-on educational tools into authentic school environments. Both Laura and Ahvian The Creative™ share the belief that bilingualism is an educational strength and that children’s cultural identities should be celebrated throughout their learning journeys.
Together, they advocate for learning experiences that connect storytelling, vocabulary development, play, creativity, and social-emotional learning.
Why Laura Is Part of Our Educational Community
Laura contributes a valuable school leadership perspective to the growing community of educators and professionals supporting the Ahvian The Creative™ mission.
Her experience offers insight into:
- Bilingual Literacy & Language Development: Recognizing home languages as foundations for academic growth and communication.
- Culturally Responsive Education: Celebrating students’ Hispanic heritage, personal identities, and lived experiences.
- School Leadership & Instructional Support: Understanding how educational resources can complement classroom instruction and support teachers.
- Family & Community Engagement: Strengthening partnerships between schools, families, and bilingual communities.
- Student-Centered Learning: Supporting different learning needs through thoughtful instruction and meaningful educational experiences.
Her perspective reinforces our commitment to creating educational resources that support vocabulary development, early emotional awareness, academic learning, and meaningful family participation.
Sharing Our Educational Mission Beyond the Classroom
Laura and Mahiette Tarrago, creator of Ahvian The Creative™, will collaborate as co-presenters at two important educational conferences in 2027:
- NABE 2027 — Orlando, Florida National Association for Bilingual Education Conference
- World Literacy Summit 2027 — Oxford, United Kingdom
Together, they will share perspectives on bilingual storytelling, language development, cultural identity, creativity, and social-emotional learning.
